random act of kindness

this topic has always, always been a personal favorite since forever. the phrase itself is beautiful, brings a lot of meaning beyond it. i have wrote blogs on this topic - twice, if not mistaken. and i was never satisfied,  because the thing keeps on happening , and i felt inspired over and over again. i was finishing an assignment, editing a project video, and this random memory came across my mind. that explains how astonished and how much i was affected by a simple random act of kindness.

taken from wikipedia;

A random act of kindness is a non premeditated, inconsistent action designed to offer kindness towards the outside world. The phrase "practice random kindness and senseless acts of beauty" was written by Anne Herbert on a placemat in Sausalito, California in 1982. It was based on the phrase "random acts of violence and senseless acts of cruelty". Herbert's book Random Kindness and Senseless Acts of Beauty was published in February 1993 speaking about true stories of acts of kindness.

It could be anything, and by anything it really means.. ANYTHING. giving a flower to someone, a compliment, including a person in your prayer or it could be as simple as holding the door for someone calling a friend. you never know if someone is in dire of some happiness in their life, you never know. and by doing it, trust me, it would matter so much.

i remember on the 17th of March 2020, a day before the pandemic lockdown, we (me and my college friends) were out to do some laundry, we were sitting at the side of a longkang waiting for our laundry, drinking teh o ais tapau from a mamak while watching a press conference, a real perutusan from the Prime Minister himself on the implementation of the lockdown, we were all gasped, not knowing what to do, because things like that has never happened in our lives. fast forward 20 minutes, this kind lady, a nurse from PPUM to be specific, had give us some changes and decided to treat us on the laundry. with all of the anxiety in our thoughts and minds, it may have distracted us because of the act, we were so moved, especially as a student, it would mean A LOT to us. we didn't get her name, but we did thank her for saving lives, for being a frontliner, and for being an amazing human being, manusia yang manusiawi - we need more people like you.
